Albuquerque Expands Automated Speed Enforcement with Elovate’s DriveSafe Technology

Albuquerque Expands Automated Speed Enforcement with Elovate's Technologies

The City of Albuquerque, New Mexico, is doubling down on its commitment to road safety with the expansion of its Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) program. Just months after its initial launch, eight new Elovate speed cameras will be added to the city’s network, reinforcing Albuquerque’s mission to reduce speeding and save lives in its most dangerous corridors.

At Elovate, we are proud to play a key role in this expansion, delivering technology that empowers Albuquerque to achieve its vision of safer streets and stronger communities.

Data-Driven Safety Expansion

The additional cameras will be deployed in locations identified by Albuquerque’s High Fatality and Injury Network map, ensuring technology is concentrated where it matters most:

  • Carlisle NE near Delamar – site of a recent cyclist fatality
  • Central Avenue between Louisiana and San Pedro – historically one of the city’s deadliest stretches for pedestrians
  • Other high-risk corridors across Lead SE, Coors NW, Eubank NE, and Tramway NE

By aligning enforcement with data-driven risk mapping, Albuquerque is making a powerful commitment to equity and effectiveness. Elovate is honored to provide the tools and technology that make this possible.

Powered by DriveSafe + Gen3 Hardware

At the core of the program is Elovate’s DriveSafe platform paired with Gen3 speed enforcement hardware from Mesa Technologies. This system was designed from the ground up to maximize accuracy, efficiency, and transparency:

  • Multi-lane radar tracking for precision enforcement in complex traffic environments
  • 4K video evidence capture ensuring clarity, reliability, and fairness in every citation
  • Real-time data integration to provide actionable insights for broader mobility planning

DriveSafe isn’t just an enforcement tool—it’s a smart safety platform that delivers measurable outcomes and helps cities like Albuquerque optimize their approach to Vision Zero goals.

And because Elovate provides a true turn‑key solution, the process is seamless from start to finish. From Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) and secure data transfer to human review and final citation issuance, every step is handled with accuracy, fairness, and transparency. This ensures the city can focus on results while we manage the technology and processing that make it possible.

Technology with Proven Impact

Since the program’s launch in early 2025, Albuquerque has already documented reductions in driver speeds and a corresponding decrease in fatal crashes. These early results highlight the difference advanced technology can make. In fact, Albuquerque has reported that fatal accidents are already down by about 20% this year, a clear sign that drivers are slowing down and the program is making an impact. City spokesperson Dan Mayfield also noted that one of the top requests coming into the mayor’s office from residents is for more speed cameras in their neighborhoods, underscoring how strongly the community values this initiative.

“Our program has shown that speed cameras do work in Albuquerque and that drivers are slowing down. Slower speeds mean safer driving,” said Jennifer Turner, Director of Albuquerque’s Department of Municipal Development.

As a trusted partner, Elovate is proud to contribute to these life-saving outcomes and to help Albuquerque, New Mexico, expand its efforts across more of the city’s most critical corridors.

A Lasting Partnership for Safer Streets

Elovate sees this expansion not just as another deployment, but as the next chapter in a lasting partnership with Albuquerque, New Mexico. Together, we are proving what is possible when policy vision meets technology leadership.

We remain committed to delivering outstanding results, ensuring long-term success, and supporting Albuquerque’s journey toward safer, more livable streets.

Elovate is proud to partner with Albuquerque in transforming road safety through innovation and lasting collaboration.
